Old order changes yielding place to new. and the only constant phenomenon in this universe is that everything changes. So does our life and our journal of book reviews as we herald the New Year of 2005.
I am sure all of you had a wonderful year that has just gone by, full of events, surprises and adventures of body and mind. Those of you who chose to remain indoors and chart the world around you through books, I must accept, perhaps had the biggest adventures of all, since you were not restricted in time and space like the rest of us. My most absorbing and memorable moments of life has always been in the company of books though I must accept that nothing can beat the adrenalin rush and the feel of the wind on your face when you plunge headlong into an exciting adventure be it on land, air or into the deepest of the ocean depths. Therefore, our life needs to be balanced between what we read and assimilate and how we apply them to enrich ourselves through first hand experience. Ignorance is certainly not bliss. To be well read is being well prepared to handle situations, emergencies and unforeseen contingencies.

The world is fast becoming one global community without boundaries and getting smaller and smaller with the advent of communication and transportations now connecting almost all the far-flung corners. Truly, we live in the Aquarian Age that is marked with advancement, revolutionary ideas and events. An era when the entire humankind is poised to make unprecedented leaps in its quest for further, bigger and higher like never before. Being an integral part of this great human family, each one of us must contribute to the global cause and play our part. No matter what we do, what we are and where we are-just go out and heed the inner calling. Open your minds, hearts, arms. embrace and grasp all that you can, that you wish to and pine for. Scour the fears and hesitations of your mind and your body will follow. From the highest portals to the furthest horizons, let your mind wander and wonder without limitations and boldly go where you have never ventured before. A great year awaits you and so does a new dawn every morning. Just make sure you are awake when the sun begins to rise. What better companion than a book when you step out of your house for that quest, and we bring you so many that you would certainly be inundated by the quantity and the variety. Just start from anywhere, dip into any pages and you would surely surface enlivened.
On my personal front, I had a great 2004 where I climbed Everest, wrote another book and traveled to four continents. This year too I have loads of events planned with many expeditions to some of the highest and far-flung peaks in the world as well as beginning my next major novel. I would sign off now, wishing you all a very happy and fulfilling 2005. May you never cease to dream and may all your dreams come true. Goodbye and god bless.
Sincerely Yours
