I being an undergraduate student had no idea what thesis or dissertation meant. When I got this book for review, I hoped to learn something new. My interest in research led me to read it. And most certainly I did learn a lot from this book.

To my surprise the book gave a very simple and lucid method of writing a thesis – so simple that even as an undergraduate, I immediately had a burning desire to enter a PG course and start writing my thesis! The book didn’t miss out on the initial basic concepts about thesis and what it is and why we should write one. And most importantly, how to start the process.

The book starts off with a great introduction about the book and the overview of the process of writing a thesis.

Even a novice like me could get the meaning of a thesis. That it has to be written to pass the post graduation and very quickly came in line with the authors on the subject.

The book is written for researcher, but it shows both the guides’ and students’ view and requirements and expectations out of both.

Though the book is written by such high ranking professors from AIIMS, the language of book is always very simple.

In the main text of the book a detailed step wise process is explained in concise manner. The book is so concise that it can be read in a single day.

In Association with Amazon.com

In just 75 pages the book describes the process of writing a thesis, which could take 3-5 years to complete.

It solves many of the minute enquires which a fellow may be embarrassed to ask his guide.

The brief description of epidemiological methods described in the book reminds me of those studied in community medicine. Their recap in the book is very informative.

It makes me feel that the whole (gigantic) process of writing thesis is so simple. –

Though the book is written by such high ranking professors from AIIMS, the language of book is always very simple. In the main text of the book a detailed step wise process is explained in concise manner. The book is so concise that it can be read in a single day...

1) Have a guide

2) Chose a topic

3) Submit protocol

4) Carry out research

5) Write the thesis

6) Submit thesis

The chapter on format of thesis is worth mentioning. It is extremely valuable for researcher in any field.

And last but not the least the appendices given at end. They are the backbone of the book. and features sample pages of all the section of a thesis.

That the book comes from a panel of experienced authors is quite clear in the text of the book . The authors point out many potential pitfalls and errors that a researcher can commit. It seems you are getting guidance by a huge consortium of experienced teachers.

Finally I would like to say that this pocket book should be in the hand of every postgraduate student right from his first day. Even having a read of it in graduation days will be very helpful.

I would give 10/10 rating for this book.

Couldn’t have been better!!!
