Jerome Parks’ The Jewess is an interesting read. It begins with a bang, maintains its tempo throughout and peters out to a tantalising ‘finito’.
A veritable battle of wits spread over a canvas that is at once farfetched yet probable, fantastic but not impossible. The evolution of mousy everydayness to a formidable sophisticate, the carefully calibrated execution of a diabolical plan, which outsmarts the ‘original’, the deliberate demolition of an established dogma is skilfully woven in a racy page turner, a thriller that compels the reader to sit through.
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing says conventional wisdom but that concentrated self taught learning can be explosive is something that can be mind-blowing is what the Jewess portrays, very succinctly. Parks has exploded this myth and proved it too...for more read on, for the rest would be telling.
