Comprehensiveness in a subject is a purpose that can only be achieved by standard and time tested textbooks that bolster with them the faith of the reader. But it is a structured learning tool like this, which acts as a proof-reading device post recension of the textbook, merely adding icing to your cake of concepts.

The question-answer pattern as an active learning process is not a new concept, but different approaches to it (by different authors) offer the reader the competence to choose among a plethoric jungle of books available on the same lines.
Pathology Pearls of Wisdom offers the USMLE aspirants to furbish their understanding of the subject in a well structured and topic-wise manner, a pattern followed by most authors.
The selection of questions and their answers is just moderation in terms of the crux of the subject, but however are not trivial for a time bound crunch the preparation ordains upon the student.

Absence of a serial numbering of all the questions under a chapter is a minor drawback of the book which I think should be amended in future editions, making the book more readable and systematic. Also a topic title on top of page as a determinate of the chapter would be a helpful addition.
Illustrations and diagrams would definitely prove useful if the important ones are simultaneously used along with answers. Also few additions and a better resolution to already present would be a worthwhile improvement.
No doubt, a first edition of any book definitely invites critical evaluation, but this book, should prove to be a valuable guide for not only MLE aspirants, but students otherwise sailing the boat of a vast and important subject like pathology in the sea of medicine.
Surely the future editions would add more 'shine' to the pearls of wisdom and stand the test of time to gain popularity and due respect to the effort of the author that goes behind this preparatory tool.
