(Editor's Note: Review of this book has been published previously in our journal. So well has this book been written, that it continues to do exceedingly well even after five years of its publication. As an exceptional case, the editors at the journal office decided to send this book for review to another expert, and see what his views are in the current scenario. Here are his views about this book......

The book under review is a pocket book aimed mainly at the undergraduate medical students appearing in the AIIMS postgraduate entrance examination.

It is a great pleasure in reviewing the book by Sumer and Sidharth Sethi. In the beginning I must congratulate the authors for their brilliant effort in searching the answers from the various available textbooks and journals and putting them in the form of this book. The main advantage of the book is that it is packed with information for the students who will save a lot time by reading this comprehensive book.

The cover and back pages are glossy and in colour giving the book an attractive feature. The quality of page and printing is very good. This is an excellent and very useful book for medical students. It is written in a very simple language and for the convenience of the students is divided in to 19 chapters.

For this book I will suggest a few changes that I hope will be beneficial for the readers.

First the exact explanation should always be mentioned at the beginning followed by the added information.

Second the added information in the form of points rather than text will be more beneficial for the students.

Third some explanations are very lengthy which hides the exact explanation of the question.

Fourth in several questions the text is taken from the standard textbooks where source is mentioned but unfortunately these paragraphs are not edited and the paragraphs are not placed under quotation mark and italicized.

Fifth in some references the name of the textbook is mentioned but the name of the author is missing. There are several textbooks in the market with same/similar names and this will add up to the confusion among the readers. Hence complete reference is desirable.

In spite of these shortcomings this is a wonderful book for the medical students and I hope to see more such brilliant work by the authors in future.
