Currently the speciality of Forensic Medicine is flooded with a wide range of books written by stalwarts as well as newcomers in the field. Present book is written by one of the known names in forensic fraternity Prof. Nagesh Kumar G Rao who also happens to be my teacher.

Present edition is a total deviation from 1st edition of the same book published in 2003. Now every chapter is flooded with diagrams, pictures, case histories along with a colourful presentation and point wise description of facts. I was particularly impressed with inclusion of chapters on medical records, forensic radiology and forensic engineering. These topics though being of current interest are rarely touched by majority of the authors.

The complicated subject of toxicology has been presented in a simple way, with highlighting of important points in blocks for quick overview.

Inclusion of question bank, laws related to medical profession and syllabus for undergraduate examination will surely be of help and interest to the students.

In the end I would say it is a book with international style print and paper quality but is still effectively priced. “This book should form the part of book shelf of every forensic practitioner in the country.”
